As the stronghold of the Impressionist guru Claude Monet, Giverny is the ideal alternative for Parisians who want to enjoy the countryside without enduring a six-hour train ride. Between cultural visits and idyllic walks, dining on terraces, and shopping at the McArthurGlen Center, one wonders if we won't end up spending every weekend there...

3 Impressive Spots

1. Immerse yourself in colors at Claude Monet's house

First stop: Claude Monet's house. A true work of art, the pink house with green shutters was the stage for the painter's life between 1883 and 1926. A lover of vibrant colors in his paintings, Claude Monet also enjoyed them in his decor! Blue kitchen, yellow dining room, and an impressive collection of Japanese prints—Monet, the author of Water Lilies, truly pleases the eyes.

Speaking of water lilies, let's head to the garden! The painter's ultimate source of inspiration, the immense park is a three-dimensional impressionist painting. Water features, a Japanese bridge, a freshly restored arch, and endless varieties of flowers — It doesn't get any more bucolic than that. Let’s play a bit : try to spot the scenes painted by Claude Monet in his garden. We recommend starting with the small pond.

2. Diner at the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Jardin des Plumes

Set in a typical Anglo-Norman house of the region, Le Jardin des Plumes is probably the best restaurant in Giverny. Created in 2012 by the Michelin-starred chef from La Mare aux Oiseaux, Eric Guérin, Le Jardin des Plumes quickly earned its Michelin star and has comfortably settled in the pantheon of restaurants to try at least once in a lifetime.

Led since 2017 by Top Chef 2020 David Gallienne, the inn highlights local cuisine with a creative twist. Under an immense feather chandelier, one can indulge in a Camembert emulsion with nashi pear, hazelnut oil, and cider vinegar, just like a local. Inspired by the impressionist past of the charming town in Eure, the spot offers several paintings for sale, ranging from 59 to 120 euros. If you want to save some money for a shopping spree at the McArthurGlen center, don't worry: the Michelin-starred experience is also available as street food at Picorette, the food truck of Le Jardin des Plumes, with prices not exceeding 12.50 euros. Good food for all !

Since April, a new garden has been growing in the vicinity of Giverny! Concealed behind vegetation, the facades of the brand village hide around a hundred brand boutiques offering collections with a minimum discount of 30%! Spanning over 20,000 square meters, the new designer outlet provides a comfortable alternative to fast fashion, which is increasingly criticized for its environmental impact and dehumanizing practices. Maje, Coach, Zadig & Voltaire, Sandro, Moncler, Stella McCartney, Vanessa Bruno, Tommy Hilfiger... In Giverny, luxury and ready-to-wear become affordable. It's like a year-round sale, without the chaos.

But beware, while offering a high-quality shopping experience is its primary mission, McArthurGlen Paris-Giverny envisions its outlet as a destination suitable for the whole family! Play areas, relaxation spaces, creative workshops... Everything is done so that those who are not inclined to linger in the shops can also enjoy their visit. And since we're in Giverny (aka the capital of Impressionists), McArthurGlen transforms its open-air alleys into art galleries, hosting exhibitions and a House of Crafts that highlights Normandy's craftsmanship. It's a perfect combination of pleasure... with pleasure.

And there's no need to get an Interrail Pass to come to Giverny! A free shuttle departing from Trocadéro, in the heart of the capital, takes you directly to the McArthurGlen shopping center on Fridays and Saturdays!
