Senegalese designer Sadio Bee creates highly wearable pieces in African batik patterns (the shirts, dresses and suits are all familiar shapes for Western dressers). His brightly-painted little boutique has been a friendly fixture on the hip Rue Sainte-Marthe since 1999, even putting on its own annual fashion show.
His workshop is just opposite the boutique; lengths of cloth hang from the ceiling, draped over an array of sewing machines, sketches and catwalk photographs of his fashion line. These well-cut, brilliantly bright pieces are just the thing to add zip to even the most adventurous wardrobe – and Sadio Bee will talk you through it all with great charm.
