Winter is coming. The wooden stage of the Grand Rex’s auditorium has been transformed into an expanse of glistening ice, creating a gleaming white carpet for famous figure-skating troupe Imperial Ice Stars to perform their dynamic version of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
With the two-time Olympic medal-winner Philippe Candeloro in the role of the evil sorcerer alongside 20 high-wire acrobats (and around 250 international award-winning ice skaters) the ballet has been reinterpreted, transformed into a narrative adorned with elegant acrobatic figures. Forget ‘pliés’ and ‘arrabesques’ - admire the ‘Star’s’ flips, triple jumps and other incredible displays of ice-skating prowess.
With an impressive combination of athletic rigour and creativity, spectacular set design, magnificent special effects and over a hundred Romanov period costumes designed by Russian artist-designer Albina Gabueva, we predict a majestic show.
