Our Intro to Canyoneering workshop is a 2.5 day course that covers many of the basic techniques and skills needed to safely explore Arizona's many canyons. By the end of this course, you will be equipped with skills in areas such as knot craft, anchor building and evaluation, rappelling and much more. These skills will be practiced in the field under the guidance of trained instructors. Our goal is to give you a skill base that will help you succeed in canyoneering adventures that may come about! This course is appropriate for all those who are looking to improve their skills and be able to travel safely throughout Arizona's amazing canyons. Cost $285,

Day 1 (Jan 14):
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
@ the Arizona Hiking Shack The course begins as a meet and greet with both people and equipment in mind. Come ready to talk, share, and learn some basic canyoneering skills before leaving for the real thing.
Day 2 (Jan 16):
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Out in the field Out in the field Continuing from the Thursday night session, you will explore more basic skills, learn about anchors, and begin some on-rope skills and self rescue techniques. There will be a break for lunch and the day will end around 5pm.
Day 3 (Jan 17):
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
This day is where you will get a chance to use your new rope skills while exploring various canyoneering scenarios. There will be a break for lunch and the day will end around 5pm.
