Part art show, part market: Digbeth does Christmas different

Part art show, part market: Digbeth does Christmas different

Birmingham always has a wealth of events to help kick off the festive season, but from December 1, a brand new creative concept is coming to Digbeth: A Winter Less Ordinary. Offering an interesting alternative to the more Christmas traditional celebrations, A Winter Less Ordinary promises to be a magical leisure spot, running a varied programme of entertainment every day in the holiday period, right up until Christmas Day. The event has been inspired by the eclectic night markets of Goa and the derelict yet beautiful arts and music spaces of Berlin, creating a multi-faceted event that showcases a wide range of independent art, fashion, crafts and food. Promising an altered twist to the spirit of Christmas, the market will also feature immersive theatre, pop up ballet, a flashmob choir, buskers, DJs, food, drink and more. A Winter Less Ordinary aims to create a buzzing market place, relaxed hangout and eclectic dance floor, richly infused with the spirit of Christmas. The event will be housed in Digbeth's newly renovated warehouse space, 119, a creative art and event venue on Floodgate Street that previously housed the ICA: Off-Site Exhibition.    A Winter Less Ordinary. December 1-25, 4-11pm (Mon-Thurs), 4pm-1am (Fri), Midday-1am (Sat), Midday-10pm (Sun). 119 Floodgate Street, Digbeth, Birmingham, B5 5SR. Find more details here.    Read about another exciting project in Digbeth: Edible Eastside.
