Time Out Market Boston is officially staying open

Last week, we broke the not-so-great news that Time Out Market Boston was slated to close on January 23. But plot twist! Today, we’re thrilled to share that the food and culture hub is officially staying open, thanks to a new operator stepping in. Under a new license agreement with Time Out Market, longtime Fenway player Samuels & Associates will take over operations at Time Out Market Boston. What does that mean exactly? The name stays, Boston’s food hall lives on and all of the fantastic vendors (and their incredible teams) can keep doing what they do best at the Market.  "Time Out Market is an important neighborhood amenity and an essential part of what makes Fenway work,” says Samuels & Associates CEO Steve Samuels. "Recognizing this, we moved quickly to find a path forward. We're pleased to have reached an agreement that supports continued operations and allows us to work collaboratively with the existing restaurateurs to build on what they have successfully established." Michael Marlay, CEO of Time Out Market, added: “We are pleased that together with Samuels & Associates we have found a solution to keep Time Out Market in Boston by transitioning to a license agreement. As a highly trusted partner, Samuels & Associates understands the value the food and cultural market brings to the neighborhood. We are delighted for the team, vendors and the Market community—they truly represent the very best of this fantastic city." In short: Time Out Market Boston isn’t going anywher

Time Out Market Chicago announces that its last day open in the city will be January 23

There’s no easy way to say this: Time Out Market Chicago announced today that its last day open in the city will be January 23.  What began back in 2017 as an ambitious mission—to gather Chicago’s most exciting food and drink talents under one roof—became a reality when the Market opened its doors in 2019. Since then, it’s been an honor to showcase the city’s extraordinary chefs, bartenders, creators and cultural voices, host unforgettable events, and welcome locals and visitors from around the globe. Calling Chicago home has meant everything to us. While Time Out Market prepares to say goodbye to Fulton Market, our separate well known digital media brand, Time Out Chicago is staying put and remains deeply committed to covering the best things to do, see and eat across this incredible city—and to championing the chefs, restaurateurs and creative talents who make Chicago one of the world’s great food cities. Michael Marlay, CEO of Time Out Market, shared more about the difficult decision: “Following the pandemic, we have seen the Chicago Market recover and grow, and we have focused on initiatives driving further growth; however, footfall until today remains inconsistent in the area due to ongoing hybrid working and in addition, operating costs have increased—all of which prevents consistent profitability.” He continued: “It has been an honour to serve Chicago, and we have loved our time here—Chicago is a fantastic city with outstanding food and cultural scenes. We want to than
