Sol Collective says
The Curanderismo Series is hosting Adam, Candice, Bellamia, AJ, Luke and Nieyah the most amazing and dynamic family gardeners in town. This workshop is for all ages. Their focus is to inspire youth and community to get excited about and involved with gardening. Gardening is a tradition that can easily taught to our youth. The workshop will include a PowerPoint presentation, discussion and fun hand-on activities.

Adam and Can Foster, a couple that currently lives downtown Sacramento. They are a part of the Sol Collective Children's Garden that resides at the South Side Community Garden. They have 4 lovely children that range from 7-16 years old. Both Adam and Can are educators. They feed their children about 85% organic/local. They live their fun life on a budget and enjoy learning how to become more creative, consciously aware, healthy and frugal parents.

You will learn:
-Why organic? -"The Dirty Dozen" -You are what you eat. –What are GMO’s? -Brain Foods for the growing body.
-The power of gardening (building community, education, health, therapy, tradition, rebuilding a relationship with our Earth.)
-The tricks and secrets on how to buy organic, fresh or local on a budget.
You will also learn how to make infused water, and make a fruit and herb Popsicle kit to take home.
Please bring a glass jar with a lid if you plan to make the water. Also, it would be helpful if you can bring any of the following fruits or herbs; lemons, mint, lavender, basil, sweet bell peppers, rosemary, tangerines, oranges, grapefruits and limes.

AND, JUST MAYBE: We may have "Happy Bags" available for people to make. They are small cloth bags filled with rice along with lavender, mint, cinnamon, chamomile, etc. (usually one herb per bag) Place the bag in the freezer and take it out when your child has a boo boo needs it to relax or needs some herbal aroma comfort.

Suggested donation $15/person (no one turned away at the door; sliding scale $3-$14). Muchisimas gracias. All proceeds sustain the Sol Collective Curanderismo Series.
