The Front Porch Series returns w/ another night of acoustic music!

Set 1: Kerry Kashiwagi (solo bass)

*As a freelance bassist, Kerry enjoys playing many genres of music including: improvisational jazz, straight ahead jazz, salsa, folk and funk. Local artists and bands he has and continues to perform with are: Capital jazz Project, Vivian Lee, Valerie V, Ross Hammond, Nagual, KKSLnews, babzmatazz. National and International artists he performed with are: Pete Barbutti, Bobby Hutcherson, Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, John Tchicai, Motoshi Kosako. Kerry also composes music. The variety of music styles Kerry enjoys performing is reflective in the music he composes.

Set 2: Gene Smith Lives!

*“Gene Smith Lives!” is local guitar hero, Gene Smith. Those who know Gene from earlier projects like the Sacramento favorite, “Kai Kln”, the rock power house that is “The Ricky & Del Connection” or the sublime quirkiness of “Ardella’s Crown” will recognize the truth in one Bay Area producer's statement, “You just never know what to expect from a Gene Smith project. It’s always different and it’s always amazing."

Set 3: Tumble

*Tumble is is a instrumental ensemble featuring Randy McKean (Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Sax), Sean Kerrigan (Guitar) and Robert Heirendt (Mbira). They weave musical influences including traditional Zimbabwean trance music, modern improvisation, jazz, and experimental compositional structures. These diverse influences collide and tumble into one another in a manner which may be at times chaotic and at times subtle and refined.
