Mutant Zoo: Feathers & Fur feels like a farewell party for a particular kind of creative chaos that has defined the Bay Area’s maker scene for years. Hosted at The Box Shop, the longtime workshop home of Flaming Lotus Girls, the night brings together art cars, fire art, music and the hands-on spirit of a space built by artists and builders. Heavy Petting Zoo’s art car anchors the evening, with two stages, silent disco, fireside chats and plenty of room to wander between installations and dance floors. The timing adds extra significance as The Box Shop prepares to move from its longtime home, making this a chance to experience a beloved creative hub before a new chapter begins. Come for the spectacle, but stay for the community of people who keep this kind of wild, collaborative art alive.
