Time Out says

The San Francisco SPCA has been active since 1868, aiming to Save, Protect and Advocate for animals of all shapes and sizes. Its state-of-the-art facility in the Mission provides loads of resources for pet owners and those interested in rescuing, and houses thousands of abandoned animals every year.
