The copper bar, the interior walls clad in patterned tin siding, the pews (rescued from a local church), the two-storey outdoor beer garden... there's much to love about this pub even before you've thought about which of the 34 locally brewed draft beers to drink, and whether to supplement it with a pizza from the wood-fired oven. Jupiter is the dream-bar creation of one of the founders of the hallowed Triple Rock (1920 Shattuck Avenue, at Hearst Avenue, 1-510 843 2739, triplerock.com), which claims to be one of the first brewpubs in the US and is still worth a look.
