12 things every San Franciscan has to put up with during storm season

The Bay Area has just exceeded a year's worth of rainfall. This storm season has been a doozy, and this weekend is lining up to be another soaker. But as the rainy season winds down and our reservoirs, lakes, streams, gardens, roofs and formerly dry shoes recover, let's recap the 12 things every San Franciscan has to endure during this particularly wet winter:

1. That one person who finds it appropriate to shake their umbrella out on Muni

2. How are we able to get to work when so many of our co-workers are "stuck in traffic" and "might as well turn around"?

3. Wet dog smell—even if we don't have a dog. Where does it come from and why does it linger?

4. Another BART delay? You don't say.

5. Instagram photos of rain drops. Instagram photos of reflections in puddles. Instagram photos of soup.

6. A storm that seems to appear the moment we need to step outside and rain that passes as soon as we arrive at our destination.

7. So. Many. Cancelled. Plans

8. There are only so many indoor activities for kids in this very outdoor-focused region.

9. Digging through the every closet in the house just to find that one overpriced sidewalk umbrella we bought the last time it really rained four years ago.

10. Why does this rain make our cats run away?

11. Invitations to ski! (No one said it was all bad.)

12. (Cough, cough.) We don't feel so well. (Sniffle, sniffle.)
