There are good ideas and then there are great ideas. When it comes to eating and drinking outdoors, Spark Social SF is sounding like one of the greats.

Set to open Saturday June 25, Spark Social SF is a 16,000 square-foot eating, drinking and playing space in the heart of Mission Bay. Picture 150-rotating food trucks, a beer and sangria garden, fire pits and large-scale games, not to mention front porch-style swing sets. Tacos and Tecate can be enjoyed on adorable grassy knolls, cozy wooden benches or aboard a stationary, vintage double-decker bus.  Created and developed by SoMa's StrEat Food Park crew, Spark Social SF will be similar to their adorable food truck eating and event space—only much, much bigger and designed to impress even the most jaded San Francisco eye.

Promoted as "Mission Bay's neighborhood block party," the event space aims to alleviate the lack of food options in the area, not to mention offer up some pretty delicious regular events. As of this Saturday, the once vacant lot at 4th and Mission Bay Boulevard North will be transformed into a massive "gastro park," which might just be the most San Francisco thing we've ever heard of.
