Fornication, intoxication, deceit and al fresco picnicking. What’s not to like? Ticketing app TodayTix will wine and dine a few lucky lottery winners and treat them to the September 14 performance of Measure for Measure (Sep 13-Oct 8) at the California Shakespeare Theater. (You can get intoxicated, the Elizabethans will do the fornicating.)

The California Shakespeare Festival closes its season with Measure for Measure, Shakespeare’s dark satire about sex, lies and an indecent proposal. Full of bawdy humor, brothels, pimps, sexual bribery, death sentences and one beheading, Shakespeare’s tragic-comedy is juicy but tackles issues of morality and justice, power and corruption. The story follows a political leader whose puritanical decrees don’t stop him from being a lascivious, hypocritical creep. Directed by Tyne Rafaeli and co-produced with Santa Cruz Shakespeare, Cal Shakes promises a funny and gritty production.

TodayTix hosted a preview & picnic lottery for Cal Shakes’ August play, black odyssey too. So we can tell you that lottery winners collect some nice swag, including sunglasses because sometimes Orinda is hot and sunny, and a fleece blanket, because sometimes Orinda is super chilly.
