We first discovered Ronnie Goodman last year when he was featured in a San Francisco Marathon video called “Every Runner Has a Reason.” An avid distance runner, Goodman is a recovering drug addict, a former convict, and currently homeless. He is also a noted artist. Goodman’s Reddit AMA is a mesmerizing glimpse into his time served in San Quentin, his profound thoughts on homelessness and how the city inspires him.

While the video’s call to support his run in the San Francisco Half Marathon ended last year (he clocked in at 1 hour and 43 minutes), it’s definitely worth a watch below. Almost a year later, Goodman is about to debut a new art show, “Soul Journey,” on April 30 at Board of Supervisors President London Breed’s City Hall office. On July 13, the show moves to the Main Branch of the Public Library. For more info about upcoming events, including a public discussion on street art programs, visit Goodman’s website (where you can also view/buy art prints and T-shirts).

In the meantime, press play and get inspired.
