Off the Grid's organized food truck gatherings throughout the Bay Area have become a hit with everyone from the office lunch crowd to the foodies who gather at magic hour for eclectic bites at the Presidio Picnic and Friday nights at Fort Mason. And while Off the Grid strikes often at several spots through the Bay, including Pleasant Hill, Larkspur, and as far afield as Sacramento, it hasn't hit downtown Oakland—until now.

Beginning this week, Off the Grid's rotating array of food trucks will convene every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in downtown Oakland between 11am and 2pm. Just as they do at other locations, vendors will change from day to day, but Oakland's line-up includes the likes of Southern Comfort Kitchen, Hongry Kong, and Turnt Up Tacos and Tortas.

Oakland's lunchtime food fest will take place at The Lot at 1100 Broadway and feature three to six food trucks on each day of service. Co-sponsored by the Downtown Oakland Association and Oakland Central, the Mercury News reports that Off the Grid's Oakland food truck market is a way for city stakeholders to utilize a once-empty lot until planned construction begins this winter. When that happens, we're guessing Off the Grid will have to move—but something tells us that OTG will likely stick around.
