The hopes and fears of San Franciscans are on display in Downtown San Francisco, and you can go spy on everyone's feelings for free. The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts' Murmur Wall is a mesmerizing outdoor art piece that displays online activity from local social media as well as the actual internet search terms of San Franciscans. That's right—the Google search you just did on "weird moles" is now part of an art installation at Mission and 3rd.

This just-released video explains how the tech-savvy art installation was conceived and created. According to Future Cities Lab, the team behind the wall, "the Murmur Wall provides a place for the city to share, indulge and reflect on the real-time desires—and anxieties—of its citizens."

The Murmur Wall is live and open 24/7, now through May 21, 2017. We suggest swinging by at dusk to get the full effect of the piece.
