Top of the Marks hosts movie nights and wine tasting all summer long

The view from the Top of the Mark just might be the best in any San Francisco watering hole. Perched high above the Mark Hopkins Hotel, the rooftop bar has been a favorite with locals, tourists and movie set scouts since its opening in 1939.

This summer though, Top of the Mark is inviting guests to take a break from the 360-degree cityscape and snuggle up for a weekly sunset movie screening. Every Tuesday evening through August, swing by for a free* feature film and wine tasting from select local vineyards.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love, this year's lineup of movies were all filmed during that iconic era (except La La Land—we're not sure what happened there). The wine tastings begin on Tuesdays at 5:30pm and the film will begin at 7pm.

Wine Tasting: Lyric, by Etude Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County

June 6 – Bullitt (1968)

June 13 – Cool Hand Luke (1967)

June 20 – In the Heat of the Night (1967)

June 27 – Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967)

Wine Tasting: Cloudfall, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, Monterey County

July 11 – Easy Rider (1969)

July 18 – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)

July 25 – Funny Girl (1968)

August 1 – The Jungle Book (1967)

Wine Tasting: Domaine Chandon Brute and Rose, Napa Valley

August 8 – How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1967)

August 15 – Barefoot in the Park (1967)

August 22 – The Odd Couple (1968)

August 29 – La La Land (2016)

Seats are first come, first served, which means early arrival is a must for those that actually want to be able to see the movie. The film screen is set up on stage behind the bandstand and only a few prime cabaret tables are available on the dance floor - which is absolutely where you'll want to sit.

*There's absolutely no cover charge for the tasting or the screenings, but the Top of the Mark is obviously hoping guests purchase food or drinks. At a minimum, we recommend movie-goers tip the hardworking servers.
