The 15th annual SF DocFest kicks off with an opening night premiere of It Ain’t Pretty, local filmmaker Dayla Soul’s portrait of NorCal’s unique breed of women surfers. Featuring gorgeous footage from Ocean Beach, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay, the film depicts a side of surf culture far more raw and engaging than the Malibu Barbie schtick. Stick around after the film for a party with the filmmakers and toast to two more weeks of indie doc screenings.
