Formerly Jack's Bar, an SF fixture for more than 50 years, the Boom Boom Room has been remade as a classy version of a blues joint: John Lee Hooker named the club after his signature song and, until his death in 2001, held court up front. These days, the venue attracts solid blues, roots, funk, R&B and groove-oriented acts, with an occasional surprise rock star dropping in.
