Formerly a Masonic temple, a dance studio, a Polish arts foundation and a movie theatre, this gorgeous Beaux Arts-style ballroom, with its horseshoe-shaped balcony, hardwood floors and fin-de-sičcle teardrop chandeliers, now stages everything from opera to rock and jazz gigs to dance events. The landmark 1909 building incorporates the legendary Avalon Ballroom, which once hosted shows by Janis Joplin and Country Joe & the Fish.
