On a somewhat sketchy stretch of Lower Haight, the club formerly known as the Top is little more than a converted dive with a smallish dancefloor. But set the Underground's looks aside and pay attention with your ears instead: it has a deserved reputation as a centre for turntable culture, and is a favourite spot with more discerning queers who love disco-funk but hate ABBA.
