Time Out says

Brandon Flowers leaves Mr. Brightside behind on his thoroughly infectious second solo effort, Desired Effect.  As you might expect, Flowers delivers the glossy new-wave of his main act, but with a lot more synthesizers replacing the guitars. It pops its polo shirt collar high enough to keep this '80s revival sailing into the 22nd Century. Head across the Bay to see it live at the Fox Theater. You can leave your eyeliner at home.
