Everything you need to know about the March for Our Lives in San Francisco and Oakland

Thousands will take to the streets this Saturday, March 24th for the first ever March for Our Lives. The demonstration, which is part of a worldwide day of protest, comes in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Here's how you can show your support in the Bay Area. 

Here's everything you need to know about the March for Our Lives in San Francisco: 

When is it? Saturday, March 24 at 1pm. 

Where is it? Civic Center Plaza. The events starts with a rally. There's also a march planned, but the exact route isn't set yet. Be sure to join the Facebook group for route updates. 

How do you get there? Civic Center Plaza is easy to reach by BART and Muni. Note that roads in the area will likely be closed due to the march. Lyft will also be offering free rides for attendees

What if it rains? The event will go on rain or shine. 

Are signs allowed? Signs are encouraged.

Here's everything you need to know about the March for Our Lives in Oakland:

When is it? Saturday, March 24 at 10am

Where is it? Oakland City Hall. The event is just a rally—participants are encouraged to join the march in San Francisco after the rally. 

How do you get there? Take BART to 12th Street/Oakland City Center station or one of the dozens of AC Transit buses that stop near City Hall. Lyft will also be offering free rides for attendees.

What if it rains? The event will go on rain or shine. 

Are signs allowed? Signs are also encouraged.
