It's been less than a week since Oakland-born Senator Kamala Harris announced a run for the presidency in 2020. This weekend, she's formally kicking off her campaign with a rally in her hometown.

The rally will take place Sunday, January 27 at 12:45pm in Frank Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland. You can expect a big crowd for the UC Hastings alum and former San Francisco District Attorney, so you might want to avoid the area completely if you don't want to get swept up in the political momentum. Harris is expected to take the stage to explain why she’s running for president and her vision for the country.

Harris is the first black senator from California and is the first African-American to enter the 2020 presidential race. While she plans to base her campaign in Baltimore, there will be a second office in Oakland.
