Yolo County Fire turns the San Francisco sky a hazy shade of orange

No, that’s not a sepia filter over these SF ‘grams. Bay Area residents woke up to an eerie orange sky on Sunday morning caused by the Yolo County Fire burning nearly 87-miles north of the city.

Since erupting early Saturday afternoon, the Yolo County Fire (aka The County Fire) has scorched 32,500 acres across Northern California, spewing smoke and ash into the atmosphere. In fact, so much airborne char has been produced that it’s literally visible from space.

An air district official told ABC that the fog actually trapped smoke that blew into the Bay Area from the fure. So the Bay Area saw the orange haze, but didn't get any of the actual smoke. Still, the Bay Area is under a smoke advisory due to the wildfires burning in Yolo and Napa counties.

Here's what the sky looked like across the Bay Area.
