Time Out says

Java Beach is funky and civilised, with the wetsuits and grand Pacific views making it feel a bit like LA's Hermosa Beach - minus the permatans. Surfers, cyclists and ordinary passers-by pop in for a basic sandwich, some soup or maybe a pastry.

When I first moved to SF, I hoofed it to Java Beach Cafe on a super cold November morning, ordered a hot cocoa, and went for a long walk along the beach. I remember how nice the barista was, and how quick they were to hand me a steaming cup of hot chocolate, and while there wasn't much else about it that drew me back to the place, they somehow still left an impression. So if you're in the area, and you're cold and in need of something to warm you up for a walk along the beach—Java is your jam.
