Native Juice Co. is a weekend fixture at Oakland’s Grand Lake Farmer’s Market and the Civic Center Farmer’s Market in Marin. It’s unsurprising, then, that co-owners Caitlin Meade and Nicci Fish make a point to source produce from local farms in Petaluma, Watsonville, Bolinas, Marin County, Guinda and Castroville. Their juice and smoothie recipes are tweaked according to what’s in season, and each is blended fresh while you wait. The smoothies are based in coconut milk and coconut water, rather than yogurt or sorbet, and sweetened by whole fruits. The You’ve Got Kale is a healthy classic (kale, banana, pineapple, coconut milk and coconut water), while the banana-date-flavored Smooth Lavendator packs a fragrant kick from lavender-infused coconut milk. Add supplements like plant-based protein powder, matcha, sunflower butter or chia seeds for 1 to 2 bucks apiece.
