Fisherman's Wharf knows how to celebrate the Fourth, and this year the waterfront has even more reason to put on a show. Live music fills Crab Wheel Plaza throughout the afternoon before attention turns to the bay, where fireworks launch at 9:30 p.m. from barges near PIER 39 and Aquatic Park as part of San Francisco's Independence Day celebration. Restaurants, shops, and attractions stay open, giving people plenty of reasons to make a full day of it before claiming a spot along the waterfront for the main event. Between the sea lions, harbor views, and festive crowds, the Wharf already feels like summer at its liveliest. Add one of the city's signature fireworks displays, and it becomes one of the most iconic places to spend the holiday.
