North Beach knows its way around a good pizza, so a festival dedicated to the craft feels right at home here. The San Francisco Pizza, Bagel and Beer Festival turns two blocks around Washington Square into a full afternoon of sampling, with dozens of pizzerias, local breweries and plenty of room to settle in with friends. Created by Tony Gemignani in collaboration with the SFIAC Foundation, the event brings together some of the neighborhood's Italian food traditions with the playful spirit of a street gathering. The best part is the format: smaller tasting portions mean you can explore different styles instead of committing to one slice, from classic favorites to creative takes. With live music, picnic space and proceeds supporting local organizations, this is less a food crawl and more a North Beach summer tradition in the making.
