The sudden death of dancer and choreographer Michael Smuin in 2007 left many wondering if the company he founded in 1994 would carry on, but carry on it did, to the continuing delight of audiences in the Bay Area and beyond. A former principal dancer and director of SF Ballet, who also worked on Broadway and in film and television, Smuin left a national legacy of bold dancer-driven work melding classical and modern techniques. Often audacious, always technically rigorous and inventive, Smuin Ballet offers winter, spring and holiday programmes of Smuin classics along with premičres by other choreographers influenced by his vision.
