Royal Hideaway Corales Beach, the adults-only wing of Royal Hideaway Corales Resort, is classic Tenerife luxury – and it’s worked hard to achieve it’s tagline: ‘the hotel with the most Michelin stars in Spain.’ So yes, you guessed it, you should come to this hotel for the food. Designed by Tenerife architect Leonardo Omar to resemble a cruise ship, this sprawling resort has ocean views from every room (it’s not actually on the beach though, mind). Rooms are bright and airy, with enormous bay windows, open-plan bathrooms and terraces sheltered by frosted glass, while the more lavish options come with private plunge pools.
But really, you’re here to eat. Across the wider resort there are seven restaurants, including El Rincón de Juan Carlos and San Hô, which between them hold three Michelin stars. Dining spans continents, from Italian fine dining and seafood grills to all-day buffets and poolside cocktails, all delivered with razor-sharp service. The standout is San Hô, where a €150 tasting menu inspired by Asia and South America unfolds over hours of pickled, cured and fermented plates that are as theatrical as they are delicious. Even the more casual spots feel meticulously considered, making this a dream stay for anyone who travels primarily to eat.
There are two heated saltwater pools (one on the rooftop and one at the main restaurant area), as well as an outdoor spa. Even at full capacity, things don’t feel overly busy here, as there’s plenty of space to roam – I often had the rooftop pool to myself early in the morning. A nightly sunset cocktail is obligatory too.
Time Out tip: Ask staff to arrange a trip to one of the local vineyards near the hotel – Altos de Trevejos was a highlight of my trip.
