USF College of Arts and Sciences says
George Takei will be speaking at the USF Sun Dome at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016. Tickets will go on sale Oct. 2 to the general public.

Takei, whose popularity spans generations, is known for his role in “Star Trek” and for his presence on Facebook and Twitter. Takei’s story goes where few stories have gone before. From a childhood spent with his family wrongfully imprisoned in a Japanese Internment Camp during World War II to becoming one of the country’s leading figures in the fight for social justice, Takei remains a powerful voice on issues ranging from politics to pop culture.

The Frontier Forum lecture series is presented by the USF Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Faculty and sponsored by the USF Office of the Provost and the USF College of Arts and Sciences. Since 2010, the Frontier Forum has hosted several notable speakers such as Jane Goodall, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michio Kaku and Rory Kennedy.

The first 3,000 USF students will be admitted to the event for free by reserving a ticket through their USF Student Ticketing Account beginning on January 26, 2016. If seats remain on the day of the event, additional complimentary USF Student tickets will be available at the door to those with valid USF Student ID Cards.
