FILM SCREENING: Stanley Kubrick’s A CLOCKWORK ORANGE. Second Screen Cult Cinema – deemed Tampa Bay’s “Best Movie Series” – is officially one year old in February! We celebrate our first year of showing underseen and unforgettable films by screening Stanley Kubrick’s controversial, colorful, disturbing, and brilliant A Clockwork Orange (1971). Join us on Feb. 10 at The Vault in downtown Tampa for “a bit of the old ultra-violence.”

Based on Anthony Burgess’s 1963 novel of the same name, the film follows the horrific crime spree of the Beethoven-loving, havoc-wreaking sociopath Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and his gang of “droogs” in a dystopian Britain set in the not-too-distant future. Kubrick – who famously had the film withdrawn from UK cinemas after receiving numerous threats – referred to Clockwork Orange as a “social satire” and a “running lecture on free will."

The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour, curated music selections from DJ Suspiria, craft cocktails, and food available for purchase. The film will start at 7 p.m. Assemble your droogs and come hang with us, and stay after the credits roll for a group discussion about the film.
