Deidra "Dee Dee" Roper, also known as “DJ Spinderella”, Cheryl "Salt" James and Sandra "Pepa" Denton make up the hip-hop trio, Salt-N-Pepa. The group released several successful albums in the late 1980s and 1990s, including A Salt with a Deadly Pepa and Blacks' Magic, which provided such hits as "Let's Talk About Sex” (1990), "Shoop" (1993) and "Whatta Man" (1993).

As the first-ever female rap crew, Salt-N-Pepa broke barriers and opened doors that were once closed to women in hip-hop. With hit after hit, Salt-N-Pepa would defy everyone's expectations and catapult hip-hop to new levels.

The iconic Robert Van Winkle, also known as Vanilla Ice, exploded on the rap/pop music scene in 1990 selling 10 million albums in four months and hitting Number One on the Billboard charts with the classic single, “Ice Ice Baby”. His worldwide album sales are over 15 million and individual song sales total over 160 million.

Known as “The Freestyle Kings” in many dance circles throughout the 1980s and 1990s, TKA is a hip-hop dance trio from New York. The group’s debut album, Scars of Love, spawned six Billboard Top Dance Hits.

TKA frontman Kayel recorded a solo album titled Swing Batta Swing (1993) under the name K7. The Gold album spawned three huge international hits including the multi-million seller “Come Baby Come” and a club favorite, "Zunga Zeng".

The Grammy Award winning, Platinum-album selling, New Jersey super-group, Naughty By Nature, has a twenty-year track record of creating the hits and party anthems that have become urban soundtracks. Their music has smashed through mainstream barriers all while remaining true to the sound, message, and grit of urban life.

Naughty By Nature’s self-titled debut album was released in 1991 and quickly escalated up the music charts with the Number One hit “O.P.P.” The trio went on to produce their follow-up albums that have become part of America’s Hip-Hop legacy: 19 Naughty III (1993), Poverty’s Paradise (1995) and Nature’s Fury (1999).

Color Me Badd is one of the top R&B vocal groups of all time. The group has sold 12 million records in the United States and their debut album, C.M.B (1991) sold over six million copies worldwide thanks to mega-hits like, "I Wanna Sex You Up” and "All 4 Love".

2 Live Crew began in the 1980s and exploded on the local scene with their Gold debut album, 2 Live Crew is What We Are. The group climbed to superstardom with their best-selling Double Platinum album, As Nasty As They Wanna Be (1989).
