Vélo Champ says
Join us in celebration of the Summer Solstice and the freedom of bike-packing. We are hitting the (unpaved) road on a overnight bike trip (campout) from Tampa to Floral City. 74+ miles as an unsupported group bike ride from our shop in Seminole Heights to a rustic campsite on a private 'ranch' in Floral City.

You can expect this campout/overnight trip to include brutal FL summer temperatures, beer, whiskey, comradre, pop tarts, bb guns, camp coffee, flat tires, sporks, camping shenanigans and more!

GOOD TO KNOW (GTK)

• WATER - Be prepared to have at least 70-80oz of water capacity while riding. We will have plenty of opportunity to fill up throughout the ride. Including some planned rest points. Other preferred hydration products are good, be mindful of caffeine and other ingredients.

• FOOD - plan to carry at least 1-days food with you along the ride. 2-days food is ideal. High calorie, small food items that can be packed and unpacked while riding are ideal. Fruit, trail mix, peanut/almond/sesame/pecan/nut butter are great. Legume and grain salads are a good choice. Temperatures will be 95˚ or higher most of the day. Keep this in mind when choosing food and storage.

• TERRAIN - the route is comprised of sections of rough highway shoulder, asphalt trails, limestone roads, horse trails, singletrack and rail-side hobo trails.

• BIKES/TIRES - cyclocross bikes or touring bikes are suitable, 29'ers, mountain bikes, fat bikes or the like will also be suitable. 32mm or larger tire diameter is recommended.

• GEAR - plan to be carry all riding/repairing/camping necessities with you along the ride. Frame bags, saddle bags, panniers, randonneur bags, backpacks are all suitable.

We are joining Swift.Industries and the Adventure Cycling Association as part of the their worldwide @[null:#SwiftCampout] adventure!
