Now before you get too excited and try to book a table at the hospital, we are not referring to the hospital canteen. Rather, a new mother (Imgur user Hahahah1111111) recently gave birth in a hospital in Japan (she didn’t specify which hospital) and was pleasantly surprised by the fancy, quality meals that she was served.

These were certainly not your usual dry, bland, gray hospital food. Each sumptuous meal comes beautifully presented on a tray, and the main dish was accompanied by a variety of side dishes. They looked healthy yet appetising and delicious, like something you’d expect to come out of a respectable restaurant – not a hospital.

The mother shared the photos on her Imgur account, and the Internet was green with envy. Some commenters even said they would fly to Japan just for a taste of the hospital meal.

There were Japanese omelette rice with macaroni salad, chicken soup, squid rings, fruits and green tea; mackerel with kombu (seaweed) salad, spinach salad, miso soup, rice, milk and green tea; cod with shredded cabbage salad, pasta, sweet potato and peas; and more.

Final 'Oiwai (Celebration) Dinner': Camembert and raisins, roast beef, mashed potatoes, kabocha, lotus root with gravy, corn soup, rice, salad, tiramisu, fruit, orange juice, green tea.

Her final ‘celebration dinner’ was the grandest of them all. It featured roast beef with camembert and raisins, mashed potatoes, lotus root with gravy, corn soup, rice, salad, tiramisu, fruit, orange juice and green tea. We don’t even eat like this every day – now we’re officially jealous.
