Mitsukoshi and Isetan to stop giving out T-Points

Just when we touted T-Point's horn for all its versatility, one of the system's flashiest backers has decided to pull out. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings, known for their namesake luxury department stores, started accepting and dishing out T-Points back in May 2016 at all of their outlets, but apparently the love affair has gone cold before it ever really got hot.

Starting April 2018, you will no longer be able to claim or spend T-Points when shopping at Isetan and Mitsukoshi, with the same applying for affiliated Iwataya and Marui Imai stores as well.

Instead, the dynamic department store duo will be continuing with their very own MI card for point-collecting purposes, so best switch to that one if you're a high roller and shop at Isetan or Mitsukoshi on a regular basis.

Apparently the reason behind IMH's withdrawal is that as both the MI card and T-Points had been in circulation at the same time, 'expected results were not attained'. Considering the department stores’ average prices and the amount of T-Points you're currently able to earn by simply buying some omiyage for your friends, perhaps this isn't so surprising.

We'll miss you, Isetan & Mitsukoshi – but we'll be sure to keep using our T-Point cards elsewhere.
