'Room in Room': the best way to stay warm this winter

Is it the latest innovation for lovers of glamping, but without the travel? Is it a new way of renting out another bed in your living room? We’re not sure, but we want it. The official reasoning behind this ‘Room in Room’ is keeping the heat in that would otherwise rise to the ceiling – perfect for those cold Japanese winters without proper heating (unless you’re up in Hokkaido, of course. Lucky bastards). Designed by outdoor gear manufacturer iKamper and inspired by the cold winters of Korea, it is surely the cosiest way to stay warm this winter.

The Room in Room is supposed to be put on top of your mattress, and will trap the warm air inside while still providing enough ventilation through its mesh outer fabric. According to iKamper, the difference in temperature can be up to 5 degrees Celcius. Now that’s worth something. Indeed, one of their main goals was to keep your heating bill down, while still keeping your entire body warm. Yes, we will love our kotatsu forever, but there’s always that nagging cold upper body syndrome, which the Room in Room combats perfectly. To keep up with modern needs, it also features an adjustable, hanging laptop stand and a polyurethane phone stand, which can be adjusted for you to either play as much Candy Crush as you desire or watch a movie.

Only sad bit? You’ll have to leave the tent eventually…

Their Kickstarter campaign had reached over 200% of its intended goal at time of writing, and pre-orders will be available from 22 December. Get yours from here.
