Perfect for those camping trips out in the wild, this SolarPuff lantern is a priceless item you'll pack every time without a second thought. It's collapsable into a compact size for easy carrying, it's light, and it's rechargeable using solar energy. What's more, it's completely waterproof and can withstand extreme weather conditions, making it particularly useful for disaster management.

Charge it with the solar panel for 8 hours and you’ll have up to 12 hours of light stored in the battery. Many solar and manual-powered lights require extremely long charging times and only provide light for a brief period. This product, however, surmounts that functionality problem with ease – plus the pop-open design is very appealing.

The SolarPuff comes in three light options: warm white, bright white, and the multi-coloured Merlin. When in use, you can also set the light to low, high or blinking. SolarPuff retails for around ¥4000 (or about USD40). It is one of the 10 products nominated for the Love Tokyo Awards 2017. Read up on the other shortlisted nominees here
