Mt Fuji, Japan’s iconic mountain, remains wildly popular among visitors to Japan, whether they choose to admire the peak by crowding a convenience store parking lot or ascending the majestic volcano itself. While there are endless options to take in stunning views of Mt Fuji, it’s much harder these days to come by a place where you can have the vista all to yourself – not to mention getting to enjoy it from the comfort of your room.

The brand-new Edit x Seven Fuji Gotemba hotel offers exactly that, with uninterrupted views of Mt Fuji from its upper-floor guestrooms. Located just off the Gotemba Interchange on the Tomei Expressway, about 90 minutes from central Tokyo, the hotel features spacious rooms with outdoor terraces for soaking in the scenery.

With concept and design led by International Creative Director David Miskin, the property is split into two wings: the main building with 43 rooms, including nine suites with private saunas, penthouses with private rooftop balconies, and six-person bunk rooms ideal for group trips; and a separate four-storey pet-friendly wing with six rooms and a rooftop dog run. The latter is only available for guests with pet dogs.

What’s more, in addition to the suites with private saunas, the hotel has a shared sauna that can be reserved by guests and day-use visitors alike. The impeccably equipped steam room encompasses a 90cm-deep cold bath, a jacuzzi and an open-air terrace for relaxation. Two-hour time slots start from ¥12,000 on weekdays and ¥14,000 on weekends. For active travellers – perhaps prospective Fuji climbers – the hotel also features a state-of-the-art low-oxygen training gym, simulating altitudes of 2,500 metres to help boost athletic performance.

Edit x Seven Fuji Gotemba is scheduled to open on September 1, and rooms can be booked now via the official website. The next property, Edit x Seven Shodoshima, will follow in January 2026 on Shodoshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea.
