While you can see drag shows and go-go boys year-round, Tokyo Pride happens but once a year: the theme for 2026 is ‘A Future Opened Up by Diversity and Equality’. As always, you can look forward to the massive Pride Festival, which welcomed over 273,000 attendees last year, plus the Pride Parade and much more.

Here’s the rundown of the main events for this year’s Pride month.

  • Harajuku

Pride Festival is the event for Tokyo Pride. Taking place at the Yoyogi Park Event Plaza June 6-7 from 11am to 6pm, the event welcomes over 200 exhibition booths and food and drink stalls from LGBTQ+ organisations both domestic and international.

The festival features a number of stage performances, with singer Thelma Aoyama and drag queen Durian Lollobrigida, both co-stars of the hit Netflix reality series The Boyfriend, acting as MCs on the first day. The second day of the event welcomes actress Miyu Nakagawa to the stage as MC, plus the return of drag queen and entertainer Baby Vaggy.

The second day of the festival (June 7) is the Pride Parade, which saw over 15,000 participants last year. The shebang starts at 12noon at the Yoyogi Park Event Plaza, continuing throughout the Shibuya and Harajuku area. Participation is free.

Calling all party boys. Agartha is one of Japan's largest gay parties, taking place across all five floors of nightclub Zerotokyo in Kabukicho. The legendary experience features a line-up of local and international DJs, including Bangkok-based star Callmekevin, plus more go-go boys and drag queens than you can shake a pole at.

It's a night not to be missed, as dating app 9monsters and the ever-popular Eagle Tokyo are both celebrating anniversaries at the space – stop by to see what surprises they have in store.

Looking to keep the Pride going after the parade, but not in the mood for partying? Skip the dance floor and head to Tokyo Comedy Bar in Shibuya instead for a night of laughs featuring a few of the city's queer and queer-friendly comedians.

The 90-minute show starts at 9pm and tickets are ¥2,000 each – purchase yours here.

  • Minato

This free, monthlong exhibition happening from June 3 to 28 features artworks created by queer artists, offering viewers a chance to peruse LGBTQ+ art and show their support by purchasing their favourite artists’ works.

Speaking of favourite artists, a tip box will be set up so that you can vote for your faves; the winning artist receives ¥100,000. To get in on the action and catch some queer culture, drop by the newly opened Queer Space Tokyo, a community space in Minato completed only in January of this year.
