A new undertaking by the team behind Omotesando’s Vent, Pass is a hideaway listening bar tucked away on the third floor of a nondescript building near Namikibashi, far enough from Shibuya Station to feel local. The custom sound system is tuned to pin-drop perfection, elevating the meticulously curated jazz, dub and hip-hop that occupies the lion’s share of the playlist here. For a near-religious audio experience, park yourself on the ‘Sweet Spot’ seat, precisely positioned where the sound from the speakers throughout the space converges – and give it up to the next patron in line when the next song comes on, as is the custom.
In the drinks department, be sure to explore the selection of exclusive cocktails such as the Smoky Lemon Sour, made with mezcal and house-smoked salt, and the cold-brew Coffee Martini. Pass also stocks a small but browse-worthy line-up of natural wine courtesy of highly regarded Kyoto shop Ethelwine.
Open six days a week, the bar doesn’t take reservations, making it an excellent drop-in spot for audiophiles and discerning drinkers alike.
