Indulge in a high tea set or dessert buffet inspired by the Sanrio character – only until the end of August 2026

Here’s an idea if you’re a Sanrio fan looking to escape the rainy season – and subsequent summer heat – in Japan these few months: head indoors, raise your pinkies, and enjoy a spot of afternoon tea. The Kuromi Summer Sweets Party has landed across seven major cities, bringing with it adorable treats inspired by one of the most universally loved Sanrio characters.
In this limited-time special, Kuromi sheds her usual goth appearance for a sweeter outlook, dressing up as cupid in pastel colours and a tiara. This is especially fitting, given that all of the locations are romantic European-style wedding venues.
One of them is the fairytale-like Aoyama St Grace Cathedral in Tokyo. Not too far away is Art Grace Wedding Coast Tokyo Bay (technically, in Chiba), right next to some of Tokyo Disney’s affiliated hotels. Fret not if you’ll be in Kansai instead of Kanto during this period – there are equally gorgeous places in Osaka and Kyoto hosting the same experience.
The tiered afternoon tea set (from ¥6,400 per person) comes with six sweet items and three savouries, with some examples being: a Kuromi-shaped cookie sandwich, coconut panna cotta adorned with a princess tiara, chilled cauliflower soup and a hamburg steak crostini. Each diner also gets their choice of coffee, tea, fruit juice or cola.
To make it a more filling meal, opt to top-up for a Kuromi parfait, or a Kuromi white peach shortcake – both of which come with a collectible sticker. While you’re at it, make a toast with Kuromi’s Love Spell Drink, a shimmery add-on beverage that comes with an exclusive complimentary coaster.
Certain locations also serve a dessert buffet version of the experience (from ¥7,200) for those who wish to go all out.
Kuromi Summer Sweets Party is ongoing until the end of August 2026 and reservations are required. See the full list of locations, available dates and timings, and blackout dates here.
