Kit-Kats are hugely popular in Japan for many reasons, most of all due to their auspicious name and their sheer innovativeness when it comes to flavours. They've been a hit ever since they came to Japan back in 1973. Now, to mark 45 years since they arrived in our island nation, Kit-Kat is inviting everyone to suggest ideas for their latest flavour.

Until Sunday April 8, anyone can enter their ideal Kit-Kat flavour through the brand's dedicated website. All you have to do is come up with something that you like (just make sure it's edible and delicious) and think should be made into a Kit-Kat, and then enter that in English or Japanese.

Age, nationality and all the other usual restrictions do not apply; you just have to enter your new fave (or faves – you can enter as many times as you like as long as they are each different flavours), or vote for the one you like if it's already been suggested.

The best ones, as selected by Nestlé, will then be put up for a worldwide general vote between April 20 to 27 to determine the eventual winner, which will then be produced and released sometime in November 2018.

While you wait for that, it seems like Kit-Kat has a whole host of other events in the works for their 45th Japanniversary, including a 'flavour test', where you can earn yourself the title of 'Kit-Kat master'. Now that's a title to put on your CV.

Get a-voting here by Sunday Apr 8 2018.
