Every surface in Café Acorite is doing something. Shelves along the walls hold an absurd number of teapots: rabbits, cats and bears, yes, but also Chanel No. 5 bottles, tiny houses and food-shaped ones, all lit from behind like part of a collection that long ago spiralled into obsession. Red roses climb the exposed brick columns, your tea arrives in a pot that may have ears, and the cakes are as good as they are pretty. With its mismatched floral china, velvet tablecloths and every last corner packed with figurines, the whole place feels like cute-girl madness in the best possible way. Everyone is there for the photo, and unlike spots that act allergic to being treated as a backdrop, Café Acorite clearly welcomes it. Behind the bar, a small team in Ghibli-esque apron uniforms moves between cake mixers and teapots with the precision of a secret operation.
