Gekikara ('super-spicy') food are the focus of this eye-watering but extremely popular festival in Kabukicho. The number of participating restaurants has reached 54 this year, resulting in the event being divided into six rounds. The currently ongoing final two rounds feature dandan men specialist Piriri and 'smoked curry' restaurant Kunkare, along with selected Thai, Korean, Spanish and Chinese restaurants.
