Published by the Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau in collaboration with Original Inc (publisher of Time Out Tokyo), the digital booklet ‘Sports Entertainment City, Osaka’ was released on July 30 2021.

The publication is all about Osaka’s long history as a city of sport, and will be used to attract more international sports events and conferences to the Kansai area’s largest city.

Inside, you’ll find information about Osaka-based sports teams, stadiums, sports facilities, sporting goods companies, conference facilities, research centres and sports-related museums. Plus, information about holding business events in Osaka. Osaka is already famous for its food and nightlife, but this digital booklet sheds light on Osaka from a completely different perspective.

Sports fans will enjoy the short messages from six Osaka tourism ambassadors, including Yutaka Fukumoto (former Hankyu Braves baseball player), Hiroto Kyoguchi (WBA light flyweight super champion), Wimpie van der Walt (NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes Osaka rugby player) and more.

Osaka has successfully hosted events such as the WBSC (World Baseball Softball Confederation) Congress, the G20 Summit and the 2019 Rugby World Cup and plans to hold further international sporting events and conferences in the near future. You can look forward to the 2021 Kansai World Masters Games (2022) and the AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) General Assembly in 2023. In 2025, the Osaka World Exposition will take place under the theme ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’.

Hiroshi Mizohata, president of the Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau, says ‘We invite you to hold international conferences and sports competitions in Osaka, the Sports and Entertainment City. The Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau will do its best to support your event.’ He hopes to see Osaka progress even further in the future.
