Time Out says

Check the skies above central Tokyo during lunchtime on September 13 for a free show of spectacular aerobatics by the Japan Air Self-Defence Force’s Blue Impulse flight team. According to the Sankei Shimbun, this performance is the first to take place above central Tokyo since 2021, when Blue Impulse performed a flyby before the opening of the delayed Tokyo Olympics

The blue Kawasaki T-4 trainer jets will take off from Iruma Air Base in Saitama prefecture and perform a demonstration flight over the National Stadium, where the athletics championships are being held, at around 12.25pm, before passing over Yoyogi Park and Hatagaya to do a U-turn towards the direction of Tokyo Skytree.

The whole demonstration is expected to last 25 minutes, flying over key landmarks in central Tokyo such as Tokyo Station, Tokyo Tower and Shibuya Station before heading back north, passing above the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building at around 12.50pm.

If you’re out of town for the three-day weekend, don’t fret: a rehearsal of the whole show is scheduled to be held from 1.15pm on Friday September 12
