FAM! Welcome to the first edition of HAUS ORPHEUS PRESENTS... the new monthly series curated by John Orpheus & Sarah Riegler. This series will feature art in its many iterations--music, dance, spoken word, live painting, comedy, a Shakespearean monologue or two--alll within the vibe of Pan-Africanism, intersectional feminism, and anti-colonialism. The mission is clear: smash the white, heteronormative patriarchy and create, express, move, and build in the process.
We're doing the damn thing every FIRST THURSDAY of each month at Art Square Gallery & Cafe, a beautiful new space in the core of the city. Each month will have a different flavor, but we will always end each event dancing it down and sweating it out to the dopest Pan-African chunes.
We're kicking off our first one with a celebration of our brand new mixtape BLACK STAR RISING (released May 30), a multi-faceted collaboation of music, dance, videography, and painting between artists reppin Nigeria, Canada, Ghana, Trinidad, USA, Antigua, and Barbados.
